Damaso Reyes

Clarify.Media founder Damaso Reyes is a Media and Information Literacy expert as well as an independent journalist. From 2016 through 2019 he worked for the News Literacy Project in a variety of roles including teaching media literacy to students in New York City public schools, training educators, organizing and leading professional development events and as Director of Global Partnerships. 

He has also been an independent journalist since 1996. He has been published by: The Associated Press, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle, New York magazine, Der Spiegel, KSFR radio, the Miami Herald, Forbes.com and the Irish Times. Previous assignments and projects have taken him to countries including Rwanda, Iraq, Indonesia, Tanzania and throughout the United States and Europe. His images are also featured in the monograph Black: A Celebration of a Culture and the book Innocents Lost: When Child Soldiers go to War. 

He is a Fulbright specialist and is the recipient of several awards and grants including Arthur F. Burns and Holbrooke Fellowships from the International Center for Journalists; a Knight-Luce Fellowship from the USC Annenberg School of Journalism; an Immigration Reporting Fellowship from the French American Foundation and two first place awards for international reporting from the New York Association of Black Journalists. He is also a fellow at the World Policy Institute in New York, focusing on the European Union and migration issues.

Diane Sylvester

Clarify.Media Principal Diane Sylvester is twenty-five year veteran journalist and newsroom leader. She most recently served as Executive Producer for Investigative and Special projects for Futuro Media Group, which produces NPR’s award winning show Latino USA and the popular weekly political podcast In The Thick. Previously she was the Senior Planning Manager for the Wall Street Journal’s Global Video Unit and spearheaded their coverage of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election and helped establish and maintain newsroom editorial guidelines for reporting. 

Earlier in her career Diane worked for ABC News in New York and CNN, reporting from Washington DC, New York and overseas as a field producer and senior newsroom manager. She’s covered a variety of stories and beats including the White House, Pentagon, Congress and other political and general news assignments including the Kosovo War, the impeachment of President Bill Clinton, the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York and the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Gulf region. Her reporting has garnered multiple Emmy awards and a NY Press Award. She has also worked as an independent filmmaker and storyteller. Her short films have been shown in New York and Barcelona and she was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities grant for her work-in-progress documentary about Cuban-US relations.
